Jack Ailsby-Fish

Owner & Coach

Jack is committed to the service of others — both the members who train at The Training Yard and the team who help bring its vision to life. His ambition is to build a true health and fitness destination; a place where people experience the highest standard of coaching, care, and community.

With a background in Sports Therapy and a first-class honours degree in Strength & Conditioning, Jack combines scientific understanding with a person-centred approach to create effective, individualised coaching experiences. He has worked with a wide range of individuals — from athletes and military personnel to busy professionals and those returning from injury — always with a focus on long-term, sustainable health.

As an entrepreneur, Jack continues to develop his leadership, business, and coaching practice, building The Training Yard into a space that represents excellence in both personal growth and community wellbeing.

Tyler McCarthy

Operations Manager & Coach

Tyler is a dedicated coach with a specialised focus on enhancing individuals' overall well-being through a holistic approach to training.

In his coaching practice, Tyler prioritises the foundational principles of strength training to cultivate a balanced and robust physique in his clients. His expertise lies in guiding individuals toward a happier life by fostering a genuine enjoyment of their training sessions.

Complementing his coaching proficiency, Tyler is a certified sports massage therapist. He takes pride in aiding individuals on their journey to physical recovery, leveraging his skills to create a serene and rejuvenating environment in the therapy room. Tyler is committed to ensuring that each person maximises the benefits of their therapy experience.

Always in pursuit of professional growth, Tyler has recently graduated with a FdSc in Coaching & Fitness. This academic endeavour reflects his dedication to expanding his knowledge and scope for his career.

Richard Bright

Coach

Richard, a devoted coach, is driven by his unwavering commitment to empowering individuals to realise their full potential, both physically and mentally. Drawing from his experience as a former professional rugby player, this forms the bedrock of his coaching philosophy.

Richard's approach to training is grounded in a holistic blend of strength and conditioning, coupled with purposeful functional training. His method isn't just about improving physical fitness but enhancing overall quality of life.

With a profound passion for optimising athletic performance, Richard brings personal insight to the table. Having been in the shoes of aspiring athletes, he understands the challenges they face in maximising their potential. Richard stands ready to guide and inspire individuals in achieving their peak performance levels for their respective sports.

Jacob Swain

Coach

With over a decade of coaching experience, Jacob brings a wealth of knowledge and genuine passion to The Training Yard community. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Sports Coaching, alongside a CrossFit Level 2 and Level 3 Personal Training qualification, Jacob’s coaching is rooted in both education and experience.

Having been through his own transformative journey — from dislocating his knee and struggling to squat to mastering Olympic lifting and advanced gymnastics — Jacob understands the power of perseverance and intelligent training. This personal evolution allows him to meet people where they are and guide them toward what they’re capable of becoming.

For Jacob, fitness is about far more than performance; it’s about building a body and mindset that allow you to live fully for as long as possible. His philosophy is simple — he wants you to be strong, capable, and confident enough to throw your grandchild in the air when you’re 90 years old.

Kelly McGurk

Women’s Health Specialist & Educator

With over 15 years of experience in the coaching and education industry, Kelly is dedicated to facilitating personal growth and prioritising overall health, encompassing both mental and physical well-being.

Her expertise primarily revolves around women’s health. She holds a Level 4 certification in menopause and wellness, is a qualified pre- and postnatal specialist, and a post-cancer certified trainer.

In addition to her extensive coaching background, Kelly is a qualified Integrative Counsellor accredited with the BACP. This unique combination of skills allows her to support clients holistically — addressing both the physical and psychological aspects of health.

Kelly’s philosophy centres on fostering good movement, promoting enjoyment, and maintaining a positive focus in all her coaching sessions. Her dedication to personal growth and continuous learning is a testament to her unwavering commitment to the health and wellness of those she works with.
